For the benefit of our membership, here are a few short biographies on our new board members.
Please join me in welcoming our new directors and wishing them much success in directing our
association over the next two years.
Carol Laurence, Laurence Management Group Inc.:
Since 1979, Carol has dedicated her efforts to becoming a pre-eminent professional in the
property management field. Much of her earlier experience has accredited her with significant
expertise in marketing and asset management of cooperative housing, condominium, commercial
and residential complexes.
Carol began her property management career with Cambridge Imperial Properties. She then
joined Sunridge Management (acquired by Enterprise/O & Y Properties Ltd.). Sunridge
Management Inc. appointed her Manager of the West Coast operations and moved her to
Vancouver to carry on business development and operational management.
Carol’s professionalism and industry knowledge had a significant impact in the effectiveness of
the West Coast office. Carol left her position for a short time - on maternity leave, adding twins to
her family of a loving husband and one son and soon after was persuaded by several clients to
establish her own property management company. Undaunted by the responsibility of
simultaneously raising a young family and managing a business, Carol proved it could be done
well.
O & Y Enterprise subsequently expanded and was pleased to persuade Carol to return to
Winnipeg and assume a senior position as administrative director , overseeing the cooperative,
residential, condominium and commercial divisions.
Carol is committed to the pursuit of excellence both in her personal goals and as an integral part
of her new dynamic and truly professional property management company, Laurence
Management Group Inc. She also has served for three years as an executive on the Board of
Directors of the Canadian Condominium Institute - Manitoba Chapter.
While Carol has been an active member for the past five years, working on the Standard Form
committee in 2000, she looks forward to becoming involved on an executive level with the
PPMA.
Ron Penner, Globe General Agencies:
Ron has worked in the MDU Rental Industry for over 21 years, of which 20 years has been spent
with Globe General Agencies where he currently holds the position of Vice President,
Operations. A CPM since 1993, Ron received his CRP designation in 2001.
Ron has been an active member of the PPMA for a number of years most recently participating
on the PPMA’s newly formed Helping Hand Charity Fund Committee.
Ron has been married for 10 years to his wonderful wife Karen and they have two boys,
Christopher 8 and Michael 7.
Laurie Reimer, S.A.M. (Management) Inc.:
Even though Laurie and S.A.M (Management) Inc. are relatively new members of the PPMA,
having only joined our association last year, Laurie wasted no time in becoming an active
member, immediately joining our education committee and conference and trade show
committee, where her efforts were much needed and very valuable.
No stranger to the MDU rental industry, Laurie has been with S.A.M. for the past two years and
was with Qualico Homes for the 15 years prior to that. Laurie also worked as Sales Manager and
Single Family Manager for Foxridge Homes.
Laurie took Business Administration at RRCC and received her Certificate in Management (CIM)
from the University of Manitoba.
Laurie very much enjoys working at S.A.M. due to the scope of work that Property Management
offers. Her dedication and enthusiasm will serve her well as she looks to replace Avrom Charach
as our Education Chair.
Grant Stevenson, A.S.H. Management Group Inc.:
Grant began his career in real estate in 1984 and has since achieved designations for
C.P.M.,C.R.P.,C.M.O.C. as well becoming a licensed broker.
His association with the ASH Management Group began 7 years ago for which he has been
charged with the responsibility of the overall operations of the commercial and residential
portfolios.
Grant and Dana have been married for 13 years and have two beautiful children Mackenzie 9 and
Brenlee 7.
