First
Annual Conference and Trade Show a Huge Success
By Don Preteau, Event Chair
On April 9, 2002, over 220 property managers, caretakers
and suppliers gathered at the Canad Inn, Polo Park for the first annual, PPMA
Conference and Trade Show.
If our first conference is any indication of what we can
expect, this will definitely become the event of the year for the PPMA.
After surveying this year’s attendees, the event
received a unanimously positive response that the format for next year’s event
should remain the same.
Seminars
A total of 132 caretakers and property managers attended
seminars on a variety of topics throughout the day, which were coordinated by
Avrom Charach, PPMA Education Chair and Tonya Moreton, Executive Director.
We received highly favourable feedback from all attendees and expect this
area of the conference to grow next year.
Luncheon
The luncheon had 210 attendees.
Our key note speaker, Derek Lobo of Derek A. Lobo & Associates of
Toronto made a presentation on the MDU industry along with recommendations on
how we can improve the way in which we do business with our customers.
The
event generated a profit of $2,250 for the PPMA coffers, which will undoubtedly
be put to good use by our Board of Directors.
Trade
Show
The trade show featured 24 exhibitors who displayed a rage
of products related to the MDU industry. With
the coffee/refreshment table located in the trade show area, the traffic for the
exhibitors was fast and furious all day.
I would like to thank the following exhibitors for their participation in our inaugural event and we look forward to your support again next year.
