Annual Member Awards - May AGM 2002
On
May 15th, 2002 the Professional Property Managers Association held
its Annual General Meeting at which time they handed out their inaugural Member
Recognition Awards. There were four
categories:
Member of the Year Award:
Recognizes a PPMA Member who has been enthusiastically involved in
activities to help promote our industry, including; sharing their expertise,
promoting professionalism in the industry, new member recruitment, attendance at
monthly membership meetings and participation in Association
events.
Associate Member of the Year
Award:
Recognizes an Associate PPMA Member who has been enthusiastically
involved in activities to help promote our industry, including; sharing their
expertise, promoting professionalism in the industry, new member recruitment and
attendance at meetings, as well as support of our Association through meeting
sponsorship, participation in Association events, newsletter advertising, etc.
Outstanding Community Service
Award:
Recognizes a company or individual who has become involved in their
community through volunteer activities, contributions to charitable activities,
and resident relations/community activities.
Caretaker or On-Site Manager
of the year Award: Property Owners/Managers
were given the opportunity to post a nomination form in each of their buildings
(or to distribute them to each of their residents) allowing the residents to
submit nomination letters to the PPMA office explaining the reasons why they
felt their caretaker/on-site manager is the best in Manitoba.
Open nominations from the PPMA
membership were received for the first three categories.
Written nominations were sent to the PPMA office by the residents of
buildings explaining why they felt that their caretaker/on-site manager deserved
to recognized as the best in Manitoba. The
winners in each category were as follows:
Member of the Year 2002 –
Avrom Charach, Kay Four Properties
- for his work on the PPMA Board of Directors, his many efforts as the Education
Chair and his work on the Conference/Tradeshow committee as seminar
speaker/presenter recruiter.
Associate Member of the Year
2002 – Don Preteau, Shaw Cable
– for his work on the PPMA Board of Directors, his many efforts as the Chair
of the PPMA’s first annual conference/tradeshow, his support/sponsorship of
many PPMA functions such as our holiday luncheon, golf tournament, newsletter
and much more.
Outstanding Community Service
Award 2002 – Wally Ruban
– for his work on the Board of Directors and his efforts as Safety and
Security Chair in bringing a valuable program called the “Apartment Watch
Program” to Winnipeg, which covers more than 60% of Winnipeg multi-unit
residential rental properties and advises residents “Don’t Know
Them…Don’t Let them In!”
Caretaker/On-site Manager of
the Year 2002 – Dimitru & Gina Melinceanu – who manage 311 Partridge
Avenue and are employed by Kay Four Properties
– as nominated by the residents of their building with glowing letters of
recommendation. Some excerpts are:
“Friendly, courteous and
attentive to the needs of all residents”
“If ever there is a problem,
it is looked after immediately”
“They are on the job early
every day, whether it is cutting grass, clearing snow or doing the many jobs
that await them, making our home a place to be proud to call home”
“When
you meet them in the hall there is always a smile and a Hello”
“They treat each resident
with the utmost respect”
