Don't Know Them?   ...

Don't Let Them In!!

On December 12, 2000 The Professional Property Managers Association in conjunction with the City of Winnipeg Police Department announced the launch of its Apartment Watch Program.

This initiative is designed to provide residents of rental accommodations with information to assist them in ensuring their homes are as safe as possible.

Through the efforts of building owners, managers, and caretakers, pamphlets will be distributed to each resident setting out suggestions and tips on safety precautions along with a sticker to be placed beside the intercom panel in each suite, which clearly reminds residents "DON'T KNOW THEM? DON'T LET THEM IN!

The PPMA wishes to acknowledge the tremendous effort and contribution of both time and resources by Wally Ruban; Don Preteau - Shaw Cable Systems; and, Steve Stothers - Videon Cable Systems. Without their hard work and corporate sponsorship this program would not have been possible.

A very special word of appreciation goes out to the City of Winnipeg Police Department, and in particular to Constable Bob Johnson and Sgt. Craig Hobson, whose co-operation and enthusiasm for this initiative ensured its success.

The Apartment Watch Program is an example of how the PPMA embraces the interests of all stakeholders of the rental housing community and how through our cooperative efforts to involve all stakeholders, the challenges for Manitobans seeking safe and comfortable rental accommodation can be met.
